How long does this process take?
The length of your application process is highly dependent on your particular case. However, for those not residing in the Dutch Kingdom, this process may take anywhere between 2-3 months. For complex cases the process may take longer. For Dutch and U.S. Citizens , the application process may take anywhere between 6-8 weeks.
What are the conditions regarding qualification for Dutch citizenship (Naturalization) ?
• If you want to be eligible for Dutch citizenship, you must have been living continuously in the Kingdom of the Netherlands for five years.
• If you have a relationship with a Dutch citizen, you must have a registered relationship form for at least three consecutive years. Living together in a combined household for this amount of time, is an important requirement in this context.
• To ensure the safety of our island, there must be no suspicions that you are a danger to the community or are to commit serious offenses that could affect public order and good morals of our society.
• You must have completed the Naturalization Civic Integration Course on Curacao with a satisfactory result.
• Your identity must suffice on the basis of various official legalized documents by consulates and embassies in the country of origin.
How much time in advance should students/interns begin their application process?
It is recommended students outside the Dutch Kingdom begin their application process 2-3 months in advance. As for students within the Dutch Kingdom, 4-6 weeks in advance is recommended.
